Josh McEachran Signs for Oxford United

Oxford United can confirm that Josh McEachran will join the club on a permanent deal when his MK Dons contract expires on 30th June.

The Oxford born 30-year-old midfielder becomes the club’s third signing in less than a week as Liam Manning continues to build his squad in advance of the 2023/24 campaign.

Speaking exclusively to OUFC.co.uk, Josh said: “Oxford is a city that means a lot to me and my family, and Liam Manning is someone I really enjoyed playing for during his time at MK Dons.

“When I found out Oxford United were interested in signing me, it was an easy decision to say yes. The club are putting together a really strong squad and I’m delighted to be part of it.”

McEachran, a Chelsea Academy graduate who made 22 appearances for the club, is a creative midfielder who has had loan spells with Swansea City, Middlesborough, Watford, Wigan Athletic and Dutch outfit Vitesse Arnhem.

He made a permanent move away from Stamford Bridge when he joined Brentford in 2015. Following a move to Birmingham City in 2019, Josh has spent the last three seasons with MK Dons.

"Having worked with Josh, I know first hand just how good he is, both as a player and a person,” Head Coach, Liam Manning, said.

“He has a fantastic ability to open games up and link the play. His vision and experience will be a real attribute for us.”

Ed Waldron, Head of Player Recruitment, stated: “A lot of work has taken place behind the scenes to identify the players we want and to recruit them early. To add Josh to our two other signings this week puts us in a really good position as we plan for the new season.”
