Oxford United Women are delighted to announce the signing of centre back Amy Goddard from fellow Southern Premier Division side Bridgwater United.
Goddard has faced the U’s three times already this season with Bridgwater and impressed on all occasions with her ability to play from the back and dominate with her physical presence.
Amy has a wealth of experience, playing in the Women’s Super League for Yeovil Town, and then for two years with Crystal Palace in the Championship before moving to Bridgwater.
“I’ve played against Oxford enough times to know what they’re all about and I’m really excited to get going. I’m a very tenacious player, very dominant from the back as a ball playing centre half. I also like to motivate the girls going through different periods of the game,” said Goddard
“I’ve played some tough battles against the girls in the Cup and in the League, I can’t wait to get involved with them. I know a few of them from playing with them in the past and they said it’s such a good club to play for so I just can’t wait to get going.
“Number one in the league, I can’t ask for much more and it’s a great opportunity for me. What Liam Gilbert wants from the squad and from the back four is definitely what I can adapt to, I’m a ball playing centre half, so for me it’s about working my way into the squad and that’s what I’m here for.”
Manager Liam Gilbert told us
“It’s always difficult to break down a side with Amy involved at the back so we are extremely happy to have her with us for the rest of the season. We know exactly what she can bring and we know that she’s a great person as well as a fantastic defender and personality to have around the team.”
Amy is cuptied and so is unavailable to make her debut against Bristol City Women in the Vitality Women’s FA Cup this weekend.
