Oxford United Women travel to London Bees tonight in the FAWNL Southern Premier Division. Kick off is at 7:45PM at The Hive.
The U’s come into the game off the back of a very important win at Billericay Town Women, courtesy of a late Carly Johns screamer, and will look to build momentum tonight in order to keep League leaders Portsmouth Women in touching distance.
A win tonight would place the Women a point behind Pompey with a game in hand.
London Bees sit in tenth place, one spot and four points of the relegation zone. In the reverse fixture in late August, also in midweek, the U’s took all three points with a 3-0 victory which included a delightful curling effort from Daisy McLachlan.
Manager Liam Gilbert told us
“Billericay was really important for us in terms of boosting our confidence, as we had had a tough couple of weeks. Now it’s all about putting that behind us and working hard to be the best we possibly can be going into the difficult parts of the season.
“We are really happy with how the squad have been training and how they have reflected on the past month or two, and we’ve all contributed to looking and discussing how we need to be better. That unity and honesty will serve us well.
“Bees, like everyone in this division, won’t make it easy for us tonight. We had to work hard to break them down at Court Place Farm and that’ll be the same story this time round. The League is still in our hands and everybody knows what it will take to get back on top.
