Ruben Rodrigues was the hero with two goals as Oxford United beat Burton Albion 3-0 at the Kassam Stadium on Saturday.
The Portuguese playmaker was in sparkling form as he took his tally to six for the season but was also quick to praise the medical team who got him fit to play after he missed the game at Reading in midweek.
“I had a plastic boot around my ankle on Monday so to be playing again on the Saturday was unbelievable. At the start of the week I had a scan and it all depended on my recovery and how I healed. The physio team were amazing and I’m happy that their hard work paid off.
“It was a good day and a very enjoyable game, not only for us but for the fans, they deserved that win for the support that have given us.
“It took us a while to get the second. We had a lot of opportunities and there was one time when we had seven shots in as many seconds and I was thinking ‘here we go’! But in the end I got the second and then Marcus scored a really good goal so we got the win in the end.
“It has been a transition, that’s the same in any job when you get a new Manager and you need to adapt. We are happy with how it's going at the moment though.
“It was a good step forward on Saturday, now we have to keep taking that on. We go to Northampton on Saturday and we have to try to do that same things as we did today.”
