Oxford United made it three wins in three games as a 3-1 win at Barnsley on Saturday turned a good week into a great one.
“It was a great feeling and we were all buzzing to come away and get three points at a place like this” forward Stanley Mills told iFollow at the final whistle. “It was tough, we knew it would be, but we got it done and are all really happy.
“To go to Derby and then win again here makes it a really good week. We have picked up nine points out of nine and we have to keep it going now. It has to be just the start.
“The fans were class and they pushed us all the way again. When we need lifting they get behind us and they are really good for us; they have travelled a long way this week to support the team so it’s good to share moments like that at the end with them.”
Stan capped his full league debut with a driving run that forced the second goal, a definite Own Goal despite his major involvement:
“I celebrated but I do know it wasn’t my goal’ he laughed. “I was just happy for the team and happy to contribute to the win.
“It was my first start and I was happy to make that. Having got my chance I just wanted to play a part and contribute. I felt as though I managed to do that. It got a bit nervy when they scored and made it 2-1 but then it was great work from Gatlin and Tyler to get that third goal. They came on and changed the game for us in that moment and that’s what we all have to do, whether we start or are on the bench, we all have roles to play every time.
“Like we keep saying, we’re not getting carried away in that dressing room. We have to keep going, that’s all.
“Enjoy the win but then keep pushing for the next result. The way this week has gone, now we can’t wait to play again. There’s no better feeling than winning a game and to do it again at home to Charlton would be great.”
