Good Friday Guard of Honour

Two teams from Ducklington are our Guard of Honour on Friday when we welcome Sheffield Wednesday to the Kassam Stadium (3pm)

DUCKLINGTON YELLOWS U8s
Ducklington Yellows U8 are one of 14 youth football teams representing Ducklington Sports Club, a thriving sports and social club near Witney, Oxfordshire.

Ducklington Yellows U8s are managed by Ian Luckett and started together as U5s, not long before the pandemic struck. During this time football was often the one activity that was allowed and this created strong bonds within the team, most of whom still play in the squad today.

Since then, they have created a supportive and friendly atmosphere along with the help and encouragement of their loyal families. It’s a truly community-spirited club and atmosphere that spans across generations.

Ian is very proud of the whole team who are always so enthusiastic and committed. The team have fun and play with such enjoyment and he is pleased to have such a great group of young footballers.

Ian would like to give a special mention to their fantastic sponsors Courtiers and Liz Evans Beauty.

The whole team thorough deserve this special day and are super excited to be on the pitch supporting Oxford United.

DUCKLINGTON U10s
Ducklington U10’s currently play in the A league of Witney & District Youth Football League. A lot of the squad have been together since they were 5 years old with players from Ducklington, Witney, Carterton & Standlake schools.

The team are managed by Ed Todd, Pete Castle with Matty Pearce who referees games, also supported by a great set of parents there to set up and take down goals…. long may that continue.

The team have enjoyed good success in tournaments and in the league plus are looking forward to going 9-a-side next season with offsides.

The team forms part of a very active Ducklington Sports Club established in 1898 forming a great atmosphere on match days.

Ed Todd said, “This is my 3rd or 4th team I have managed at Ducklington and this lot are probably the best all round squad I have had from the keepers through to game changers on the bench. They have come such a long way and am very proud of these players efforts every weekend. It has been a long journey from learning to kick a ball to completing skills week in week out”.
