Oxford United’s scholars were given a talk yesterday by ex pro Finley Tapp
Away from the show he appeared on, he has admirably refined a workshop on Managing Transition between phases in Academy football from his own experiences in the industry.
Head of Academy Player Care Eddie Odhiambo told us
“Finley was a scholar and professional player very recently. The experiences he shared were relevant & familiar to our under 15 and under 16 groups and we’re very grateful for his openness.
“Finley spoke honestly about players with traits that didn’t maximise their potential, like himself, versus the ones who showed consistent professionalism and awareness of their opportunities.
“He spoke about the importance of talent transference, dual careers, and pathways. This is a vital for the boys to hear, given the stats around how many players make a career as a pro.
“He also noted how resilience to adversity was a key component and his insight on developing mental resilience was impactful.
A big thank you to Finley for coming in to speak to the boys and using his platform to work on his passion for football.
