Tiamuna Double Helps U19s Beat Watford

Oxford United’s Under 19s kicked off their Professional Development Cup campaign with an excellent win away at Watford on Saturday.

Two goals from second-year scholar Enrique Tiamuna saw the U’s get off to the perfect start in their group as Coach Chris Hackett told us

“It’s a competition where Category 3 Academies like us and Category 2 clubs have a chance to get through and compete with Category 1 sides in the knock out stages. There are four teams in the group - us, Watford, Colchester and Luton and obviously if you can win your first game it is a massive help for the rest of the games.

“We played well. Enrique has a great habit of finding space to score goals and he has been doing really well but there were a lot of positive performances. We had two under 16s starting and an under 15 came on so it was a very young side and we we were really pleased with the approach and the performance.”
