Midfielder Marcus McGuane was left frustrated as the U’s lost 1-0 at Plymouth last night.
Marcus’s fine personal form continues but United’s three game winning run came to an end at Home Park and he told iFollow:
“We were really disappointed with how we played in the second half and we need to show more courage than we did to play as a team way from home.
"We could have been better in the first half but we still gave ourselves a good base to work from at the break. But then we didn’t stick to the plan, that went out of the window in the second half. It was the second half performance that cost us the game.
“It’s tough at the moment. We have some key players out and hopefully they will be back soon to help the rest of the boys but even with them missing we still had a strong team out and we have to be better when we come to places like this and come up against a good team, high up in the league. Those are the teams we want to be competing with.
“We still had chances. Kyle had a chance but that’s football- he has been magnificent for us and scoring goals and he will score plenty more for us, you can’t score every chance. We just need to be better as a team.
“The fans are always great and to drive that far in the rain was a great effort. We’re sad not to get them anything from the game but we’ll try and put that right on Saturday.”
