PREVIEW Charlton Athletic v Oxford United

Oxford United return to Sky Bet League 1 action at Charlton Athletic on Saturday

TEAM NEWS

The international break helped United with an extra week for injured players to recover. Skipper Elliott Moore and striker Matty Taylor are closest to a return but Sam Baldock and Josh Murphy are now out on the pitches and training hard ahead of a return to full training.

Ciaron Brown, James Golding and Jodi Jones all returned safely from international duty, with Jones making his full debut for Malta.

THE OPPOSITION

There's a familiar face in the Charlton team with midfielder Jack Payne hoping to impress against his former club.

“I really enjoyed my time there [at Oxford].” Payne told the South London Press. “I played some of the best football of my career. But I then went on to play for their rivals Swindon, so I’m not sure they are keen on me as a person.

“I’ve always enjoyed playing against Oxford and there’s still a few familiar faces I know there. I’ll be right up for the weekend.

“I’d rather get the stick. If you’re not getting it you’re probably not doing anything right. If you do it’s because you’ve done well for the club. Because I did quite well for them and then went on to do well for Swindon, I don’t think they will be too keen on me. That’s fine, I’ll relish that.”
