There was great news for the U’s on Saturday when Marcus Browne returned to action after a knee injury.
The forward made an immediate impact but his appearance caught many fans by surprise as he returned ahead of the time they were expecting him. That’s something the former West Ham and Middlesbrough man was very aware of
“Hopefully it was a nice surprise!” he told us. ”When I first got the injury I think everyone feared the worst but we did the scans and have been doing that ever since just making sure everything was fine. We didn’t want to get hopes up- mine included- by setting a return date, but I had always been targetting the Burton game in my head and it was fantastic to be involved again.
“We are lucky to have such a great medical team and I’d done all the rehab work and felt strong so I was really looking forward to it.
"Luckily, although I maybe didn’t think it at the time, there were a couple of tough challenges on me early on. I think that settled any doubts I may have had and I have had no reaction since the game so hopefully I am back fully now.
“It has been a bit frustrating but you have to look at the positives and it’s good to be involved again. We had three wins last week, we have other players coming back into the group soon and the spirit is really strong.
“The next two games are big away ones at Shrewsbury and Plymouth and I can’t wait to be involved and hopefully play a part in keeping the little run we are on going.”
