There was mixed news from the treatment room today as the U’s prepared to take on Wycombe Wanderers at the Kassam Stadium.
Midfielder Lewis Bate will miss that game but x-rays have shown no fracture after the on-loan Leeds man hobbled off in Tuesday’s game against Chelsea Under 21s. Meanwhile winger Josh Murphy took another step forward and is close to a full return to training after injury.
Karl Robinson confirmed to us:
“I don’t want to say too much about the challenge on Lewis. People saw it and will have their own views on it. It was such a loud collision that we were worried there could be a break but the X-Rays have come back clear on that.
"He is off for an MRI scan today, just to check, but he is still in a lot of pain and we need to take care with him and make sure everything is right.
“Josh has had to be patient but is looking strong. He’s not too far off now and that’s exciting for us.”
