Development Team Win Comfortably in the Cup

Oxford United Women Development Squad are through to the next round of the Oxfordshire FA County Cup after a dominant display.

Oxford controlled the ball from the get-go and had plenty of early chances to take the lead but were met by determined defending from Kidlington.

That was until the nineteenth minute when Kinsella was slid through and lifted the ball over Murphy in the Kidlington net to give Oxford the lead.

It didn’t take long for United to double their advantage, as Lunn broke down the right and crossed low to Sellwood, who turned her defender and fired her left-footed effort through the Kidlington Keeper.

Oxford then scored three in three minutes, as Gilmore’s header, Lunn’s long range drive and French’s volley from close range made it 5-0 at the break.

10 minutes into the second half, Dearlove had a few good opprotunities and eventually made it 6, cutting inside Rodway and finishing well.

Kidlington forced a strong save out of Crierie in the Oxford net as Cox broke free with 73 minutes played.

In the 77th minute, French fizzed in a cross and Hartigan takes it first time to finish excellently of the bar and in for United's seventh, before French made it two for herself and eight for Oxford a minute later.

Hartigan scored a superb looping volley from outside the box to make it nine just before full time.

246 fans came along to support women's football in Oxfordshire at Court Place Farm and saw just how exciting the future of OUWFC is.
