Oxford United are proud to celebrate our seasonal Military Day when Forest Green Rovers visit the Kassam Stadium this weekend, as we pay tribute to the work of our armed services.
The game will see activities around the ground in the build-up to kick-off that allow fans to see equipment and vehicles and have a chat with members of all the Armed Forces.
The Royal Navy will be bringing a 20mm Gambo Gun which you can touch and get your photo with. The Royal Air Force will have a presence outside and there will also be the opportunity to try on an RAF parachute, to see how heavy they really are.
The Army will be bringing a range of equipment they use on deployment for you to explore from helmets to camouflage webbing.
We are delighted that staff from RAF Brize Norton will be our Guard of Honour to welcome the teams to the pitch before RAF Benson’s Station Commander will present the match ball to the referee before kick-off.
Hundreds of tickets have also been distributed to serving personnel and veterans of the Royal Navy, Royal Air Force, and Army via our partnership with Tickets for Troops.
SSAFA, the Armed Forces Charity will be on site and fans can donate to this great charity as they enter via the turnstiles, while half time will see representatives of all three branches of the services involved in some special activities.
