Oxford United look to continue their excellent recent form when they welcome Forest Green Rovers to the Kassam Stadium on Saturday (3pm)
“The players have been excellent” Karl Robinson told us today. “Even when results weren’t going our way they stuck together and kept believing in what we were trying to do as a group. That collectiveness is still there but now we are getting the results to go with the performances.
“I thought we were excellent against Port Vale last week and then on Wednesday we had to find a different sort of performance. You find out a lot on nights like that where the pitch is heavy, the rain is pouring down and you are playing a really in-form team from a lower division. The attitude was spot on last night and we were very professional in everything we did.
“The fans were exceptional as well, standing there in the rain and singing their hearts out. That was all part of the night and I think it just reminded everyone why we love the FA Cup so much.
“Now we have to try and keep the momentum going in the league. Physically it was tough at Woking but we just get on with that. We trained well today and we have another day to prepare and make sure we are right physically, mentally and tactically.
“It’s not going to be easy. Forest Green have built a club with a real identity and they will come to us wanting to end our decent run of results. They are dangerous and we will respect what they do, but the games can’t come quick enough for us right now and we can’t wait to get out there and play another game.”
