Forest Green Rovers Game is Military Day

Oxford United are proud to announce that our home Sky Bet League 1 game against Forest Green Rovers will be our seasonal Military Day as we pay tribute to the work of our armed services.

The game at the Kassam Stadium on Saturday 19th November will see hundreds of tickets distributed to serving personnel and veterans of the Royal Navy, Royal Air Force, and Army via our partnership with Tickets for Troops.

There will be activities around the ground in the build-up to kick-off that allow fans to see equipment and vehicles and have a chat with members of all the services and we are delighted that staff from RAF Brize Norton will be our Guard of Honour to welcome the teams to the pitch before RAF Benson’s Station Commander presents the match ball to the referee before kick-off.

SSAFA, the Armed Forces Charity will be on site and fans can donate to this great charity as they enter via the turnstiles, while half time will see representatives of all three branches of the services involved in some special activities.

Chief Executive Tim Williams said

“It’s fantastic to be working with our local heroes in this way. They all do such amazing work, and it will be a great way for us to thank them for all that they do, while also adding to the matchday experience for our fans.

“We will, of course, be marking Remembrance Weekend this weekend against Port Vale, with poppies on our shirts to remember those who gave their lives for this country. Military Day is a great way to extend our salute into the following weekend as well.”
