Mark Sykes Called up for Republic of Ireland

Oxford United midfielder Mark Sykes is celebrating his first call up for the Republic of Ireland Squad

Mark has been named in the squad for two friendlies against Belgium and Lithuania on Saturday 26th and Tuesday 29th respectively.

"I'm delighted" he told iFollow today. "I took a call from the Manager yesterday and he told me I was in the squad. I can't wait to join up with them and hopefully get my chance. But first we have a massive home game on Saturday against Ipswich so I will be focussed on that and then will have time to let the news sink in properly."

Mark’s call up means that, with Gavin Whyte and Ciaron Brown already included in the Northern Ireland squad, United’s Sky Bet League 1 game at Morecambe scheduled for 26th March has been rescheduled.

The game will now take place on Tuesday 5th April (7.45pm)
