Oxford United are delighted to announce a new partnership with Her Game Too, which aims to raise awareness of sexist abuse within the realms of football.
The campaign was launched in May 2021 to widespread support on social media - leading to the campaign's hashtag of #HerGameToo trending on Twitter in the build-up to the Emirates FA Cup final and launch video for the campaign gaining over 1 million views.
Since the launch of the campaign, #HerGameToo has surveyed over 400 female football fans to build a wider picture of the experiences they have faced when attending games.
Sexist abuse or harassment will not be tolerated at Oxford United and by working closely with the #HerGameToo campaign we hope to continue to create a safe environment at the Kassam Stadium for all supporters.
In the future, Her Game Too are looking into methods people can report sexist abuse or harassment and they will continue to reach out to female fans to evaluate the current match-day experience and make appropriate changes, which Oxford United will fully support.
Co-founder of Her Game Too, Eve Ralph said, “Her Game Too are delighted to be partnering with Oxford United as they are committed to making the matchday experience safe and inclusive for all fans. We are really excited to see the plans come into action, both short and long term, and we are really grateful for all the support received so far from everyone involved at the club.”
Oxford United’s Managing Director Niall McWilliams told us
“We are fully behind what Her Game Too stands for and proud to be highlighting this important work this weekend. The club belongs to the fans and we will always work to improve the experience for absolutely everyone who comes to see us play.”
Ahead of Saturday’s Sky Bet League One fixture with Burton the U’s will be showing support for the campaign, whilst representatives from Oxford United Supporters Panel will be at the game to speak with supporters and distribute flyers.
Her Game Too can be found on Twitter and Instagram using the @HerGameToo handle, as well as on Facebook as ‘Her Game Too’.
