There was another testing day for the Oxford United squad today as they continued their pre-season training camp in Spain.
The hard work the day before had earned the players a slight lie-in with no early morning run (although the respite was temporary and they will be running at 6.30am tomorrow) but after breakfast at 8am they were at the Marbella Training Center at 10am to once again push themselves to the limits.
The 90 minute session combined pure running work with an increased number of drills involving ball work and small-sided games.
Goalkeepers Jack Stevens and Simon Eastwood were able to continue their specific goalkeeping sessions on another pitch due to two young local keepers, also training at the centre, stepping in for the games. See Coach Wayne Brown’s thoughts on today HERE
The U’s were able to call on the experience of Derek Fazackerley, enjoying his 51st pre-season and you can see what he thought in iFollow along with a catch up with Oisin Smyth undergoing his first such pre-season with the U’s.
After the formal session there was time for some TEQball and for individual work - Craig Short passing on his experience to young centre-half James Golding in particular.
This afternoon saw two groups work in gym sessions at nearby Atalaya Park
