Oxford United are delighted to announce the signing of defender Stuart Findlay, who joins the U's for an undisclosed fee from Philadelphia Union.
Stuart, 26, is a Scottish international centre-half who started his career at Glasgow Celtic. After gaining experience on loan at Greenock Morton, Dumbarton and Kilmarnock, he joined Newcastle United before making over 100 appearances at Kilmarnock and making his full international debut, and scoring, against San Marino in 2019.
In 2021 he joined Philadelphia Union of the MLS, telling us:
“That was a fantastic life experience and I want to thank everyone there and wish them well. It has taken a while to get this transfer through but now it has I am genuinely excited to get started.
“The Gaffer has been great, the facilities are excellent and I have been playing matches in America so I am fit and ready to start training, get to know everyone here and keen to show what I can do.”
Stuart joins on a four-year-deal and Karl Robinson told us:
“It’s no secret that he has been our target for a while and I want to thank the owners for backing us to make sure we got our man. He reads the game well, is strong in the air and is a real competitor. We look forward to working with him.”
Stuart is expected to be part of the squad at AFC Wimbledon on Saturday. See his first interview in iFollow now.
