We caught up with new Oxford United Women signing Leah Burridge after her first full week of training with the squad.
Leah has experience playing against Oxford for both Wolves and Bridgwater. She told us:
“After playing against Oxford over the last couple of years they seem to be growing and strengthening season upon season, so it’s definitely an exciting opportunity for me to now get involved with.”
The battling midfielder who joined from Wolves told us about her ambitions for the season.
“The aim and the target this year is to get promoted, win the league, move up somewhere which will challenge the girls, challenge the staff and be in that environment of top-flight football that a lot of us within this team deserve to be at.”
Leah has been training hard before facing her former club this Sunday when the U’s play Wolves in a behind-closed-doors pre-season friendly.
“Nobody likes pre-season! But it’s one of those where you also get to meet the girls, get to grips with how the club works and how the set-up is, and start playing football again.”
Oxford United Women kick off their Southern Premier League season at home to Bridgwater United on the 21st of August.
