Oxford United make the short trip up the M40 to Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday looking to put in a winning performance in front of a sold-out away end.
The U’s have had some tremendous battles with the Chairboys over the years and boss Karl Robinson expects another close contest this weekend at Adams Park.
“It’s always a good game when we play Wycombe and one we will enjoy playing in against a good team who have had a good couple of years. They were very close to staying up last season and have invested really well. They have a cohesion which is really difficult to play against so nobody should ever underestimate how good they are or how difficult it is going to be for us.
“We have to bounce back after Lincoln, that’s part of any Football League season, having to react from losing games. But what I have seen this week is players who are really motivated for the weekend and looking forward to playing in front of our amazing away fans.
“I blame myself for the defeat at Lincoln. I didn’t feel my judgment was right on the day and I let the players down. I don’t think I was at it and I was honest with the players, like they always are with me. We self-analyse all the time and we don’t shirk responsibility when we under achieve. We look at ourselves first, as you should do; ‘Have you done enough today?’ I didn’t feel I did on Saturday and that has spurred me on this week.
“We have all worked really hard all week. Jordan Thorniley and Cameron Brannagan have been injured but we are comfortable with who we have available and we are ready to go there and give it a real good go.”
