Oxford United have made their third signing of Deadline Day with Ciaron Brown joining the U’s on loan from Cardiff City until the end of the season.
The 24-year-old defender is a full international with three caps for Northern Ireland and is happy playing either as a left-sided centre-back or as a left-back.
Having started his career at Wealdstone, Brown moved to Cardiff in 2018 and has enjoyed two loan spells at Livingstone in the last two seasons.
Karl Robinson told us:
“He fits the bill nicely for us. He is tall, powerful reads the game well and he can play in a couple of positions. With Luke McNally doing well alongside Elliott Moore, Sam Long also able to play there and John Mousinho also available we think we are well covered in that position now and Ciaron will also give us that extra option at left-back if needed.”
Ciaron told us:
“I’m looking forward to it. Oxford are doing really well in the league and I spoke to Gavin Whyte and to Curtis Nelson and they had nothing but good things to say about the club and the fans so I am really excited to be part of that.”
Ciaron joins fellow new arrivals Marcus Browne and Oisin Smyth in the United squad.
