Following the tragic passing of Joey Beauchamp on Saturday Oxford United have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of emotion for one of the very best to don the yellow shirt.
Given the significant impact of Joey’s performances throughout the 90s and early 00s, there have been many fitting tributes proposed for the first opportunity the U’s return to the Kassam – this Saturday’s home game against Cambridge United, 3pm.
There will be a minute’s applause, the programme will feature Joey on the cover plus a tribute inside while a Book of Condolence for Joey’s family is available HERE for fans to pass on their memories.
The club have been working closely with the Beauchamp family and although Saturday will be emotional we want it to be a positive day, one of celebration of a true club legend.
Therefore we will be making a charitable donation of £1 for every home supporter who has a ticket for the game – this includes both Season and Match Ticket holders.
The donation will be made to MIND, the chosen charity of the Beauchamp family. Full details of the charity can be found by clicking here
You may have also seen supporters group Oxford Fanatics are planning a display at Saturday’s game in Joey’s honour. With this in mind, we ask supporters to purchase their tickets in the East Stand to ensure that the spectacle has as much visibility as possible. Joey was loved by the London Road. Let’s show him that love one last time
The group have already raised a huge amount of money which will be used to fund the display. All money raised above and beyond the cost will also be donated to MIND – full details of the fundraising can be found by clicking here
