It’s a big weekend for the U’s with the First Team at home to Bolton Wanderers on Saturday and then Oxford United Women heading for London Bees away on Sunday in their chase for the league title.
The U’s are well within reach of top spot with two games in hand and just five points behind Ipswich, who sit at the top of the FAWNL table. It looks like a three way race with Southampton, who have played three fewer games, only four points behind the U’s.
United are unbeaten at home and are coming off of a six-game winning streak in the league. After their tough loss against Crawley last weekend in the FA National League Cup quarter-final, the U’s will hope to rebound with an away win.
“We know where we can be better, and we know what we’ll work on this week as we build into another tough game,” manager Liam Gilbert told us after the Crawley game. “We aren’t going to get too high when we win, and we aren’t going to get too low when we lose,” he said.
The Bees have won three of their past five league games, but United beat them 5-1 back in late October.
United travel to The Hive Stadium, Barnet on Sunday the 13th with kick off at 2pm.
