Oxford United Women travel to Westleigh Park this Sunday, the 18th of December for a FAWNL Cup tie against Portsmouth Women. Kick-off is at 2PM.
Tickets cost £4 for adults, £2 for over 65s and £1 for juniors.
Portsmouth currently sit in third place in the Southern Premier Division, five points below league leaders Oxford having played the same number of games.
The FAWNL Cup tie will be the U’s final game of 2022, and so the Yellows will look to end the year strong.
Manager Liam Gilbert said
“It would be great to carry on the momentum and the run that we are on, but a cup game is always different. We’ll prepare as and how we normally do but we’ll probably rotate a little bit going into this weekend. There’s been some players that haven’t had minutes in a little while and we hope that that can help us go into Christmas on a high.”
“Whatever happens this weekend Christmas gives us the time to take account of what we’ve done so far this season, look at what we’ve done well and on the flipside what we can do better, and then assess how we are going to tackle the second half of the season as there’s still a lot of football to be played.”
“It’ll be interesting with the individual matchups and how their system compares to ours, and they may want to do things differently to the last time we played them. We’ll just control what we can control and prepare for things accordingly.”
When the two sides met in October, United came out victorious, thanks to two Carly Johns goals at Court Place Farm.
The winner of the tie will go on to face either Plymouth Argyle or Cardiff City away in the Quarter Final.
