Oxford United midfielder Lily Stevens made her 50th appearance for the club in United’s 3-0 Women’s FA Cup Victory over Plymouth Argyle on the weekend.
The versatile midfielder, who has been filling in at right back this season, marked the occasion with the opening goal of the game, her second of the campaign.
Lily joined the U’s at the beginning of the 2020/21 season, and has since become a vital member of the side.
We caught up with Lily to recap on her time at the Club.
“Since my very first session at Oxford I’ve loved every minute. The ambition and the hard work that goes into everything makes it such a special club to play for.”
“This year especially, it’s such a great group of players and staff. It’s a good environment to step into every week; everyone pushes each other to be better and is willing to go that extra mile for the team. I think that comes across in a lot of our performances this season.”
What’s been Lily’s best moment at Oxford United?
“One of my favourite moments has to be last season scoring my first goal for the club. Everyone knew how badly I wanted a goal and everyone was so happy for me when it happened.”
“Hopefully there’s plenty more appearances and moments to come. I love playing for the club and hopefully can get to that next milestone and help the club take the next step with promotion.”
Manager Liam Gilbert told us
"Lily is such a positive force around the squad and has shown her value massively this season. To slot in at full back and do so well in that position shows her intelligence of the game and we are all immensely proud of her. We hope that she's with the Club for many games to come and can't wait to see her continue to progress."
A big congratulations from everyone at Oxford United to Lily Stevens for achieving the milestone.
