Oxford United will wait on scans and medical reports on three key players before naming their side to take on Charlton Athletic tomorrow night (7.45pm)
Goalkeeper Simon Eastwood and midfielder Lewis Bate both missed the game at Ipswich on Boxing Day while forward Marcus Browne limped off in the first half at Portman Road.
“Marcus felt his hamstring tighten and is having a scan tomorrow morning” Karl Robinson told iFollow today. “It looks like he’ll be out for a while but let’s wait and see from the scan what the extent of the damage is. Easty damaged a calf and although he was at Ipswich he wasn’t able to play and he is having a scan today as well. Hopefully he is OK to be involved.
“Lewis was hit by illness on Boxing Day. He has been told to stay away because we don’t want others to be affected. Elliott Moore had similar a couple of weeks ago and took a while to get back but hopefully Lewis isn’t as bad.
“So we just need to look at all three and then see how we look after them. It’s important we show a reaction after that Ipswich game but we have trained well for the last two days now and we’ll be ready.
“Charlton will be tough. They’ve had a couple of good results under the new management team and they are a big club who I enjoyed working for. But we have two home games in a row now and we need to take advantage of that and try to get six points on the board which would leave us in a decent place with half a season to go.”
