Oxford United Women’s unbeaten start to the season has had an extra bonus with the development of young players again part of the success.
The U’s have a thriving Regional Talent Centre (RTC) and Sunday’s win at Plymouth saw three young players given their chance
United ended the game with two 16-year-olds on the pitch at the same time when J Gray and H Prescott*came off the bench in the second half to continue the trend of Oxford United Women RTC progressing to the first team.
That follows Erin Hartigan making the step up from the development squad to the first team, and on Sunday Development Team Captain Sammy Wynne became the latest player to step up and make her first team debut.
Manager Liam Gilbert said “it’s fantastic to see the young players come on and not only play well but really assert themselves on the game. It’s something that we value highly here at Oxford so we love when you can see the development of someone’s game in competitive match circumstances.”
Those young players will be hoping to be involved again as The U’s face London Bees at Court Place Farm tonight, Tuesday 30th of August. Kick off is at 7:45 PM
