Oxford United Women will make the trip down to Devon to face Plymouth Argyle Women this Sunday off the back of a 2-0 opening day win against Bridgwater United at the weekend
Argyle lost their opening game 3-1 to newly promoted Cheltenham Town Ladies. Plymouth finished 10th last year in the Southern Premier Division, just avoiding the drop. However, Oxford manager Liam Gilbert knows that this will be anything but an easy game.
“They’ll be a very well organised team. They’re a team that improved a lot over last year and I know Ryan has done a very good job there and I think that will have happened across the preseason. We’ll expect a very tough challenge
“We’ll travel down the night before so it will be nice for the girls to spend a bit more time with each other away from training and away from the football pitch and get to know each other a little bit better. Again, we are just really looking forward to the next challenge now.
Lily Stevens, who put in an excellent performance out of position at right back on Sunday is also looking forward to the away day.
“Yeah, we love an away trip, especially to Plymouth! The same focus, the same objective. We’ll go there to get the three points and carry on from today.”
The U’s took all three points to start the season on Sunday with goals from Naomi Cole and Riva Casley.
