Oxford United are delighted to announce academy prospect Slavi Spasov has signed a new one-year-extension with the club.
Slavi became the U’s youngest ever scorer in 2018, when he scored a penalty in the Checkatrade Trophy against Fulham at just 16 years of age.
The 20-year-old has spent the last two seasons on loan-spells at Woking and North Leigh, dealing with injuries that stopped him from training with his native Bulgarian under 18 team.
The young forward is excited to continue his journey at the club, telling us:
“Pre-season’s gone really well. Being injured has been tough but I feel great now and I’m excited to get started. I’ve worked really hard to get here but I’m prepared to work harder and show the Gaffer why I deserve this contract.”
Manager Karl Robinson said:
“We want young, hungry players in the squad, and Slavi is an example of that. He’s an outstanding young man and I’m excited to see how he’ll make an impact.”
