PREVIEW Oxford United v Crystal Palace

Oxford United welcome Crystal Palace to the Kassam Stadium tonight in the Carabao Cup second round (7.45pm)

TEAM NEWS

The U's are without eight first team players as injuries continue to disrupt their start to the season. Alex Gorrin and James Henry are the latest two to join the queue in the treatment room, both waiting for scans on hamstring injuries from the weekend.

Marcus McGuane also hobbled off during the draw with Morecambe and is ruled out with a calf injury, joining Marcus Browne, Yanic Wildschut, Josh Murphy, Sam Baldock and Elliott Moore on the injured list.

Youngsters James Golding and Gatlin O'Donkor are added to the squad to face the Eagles along with midfielder Oisin Smyth.

THE OPPOSITION

Crystal Palace boss Patrick Vieira is set to name a strong side after Saturday’s 3-1 Premier League victory over Aston Villa.

“After a performance like that every single one of them will want to play again,” he said. “So it’s important to maintain that confidence, that belief, and the best way to do it is for the players to play games.

“We will compete, we want to go of course as far as we can (in the competition).

“When you look at the performances against Liverpool and Arsenal, we had good performances but we did not win those games. Against Villa we had a good performance and managed to win, so what’s important for us is to maintain that.”
