Oxford United are pleased to welcome 19-year-old Lewis Bate on a season-long loan from Leeds United.
Born in London, the young central midfielder began his career in the Chelsea Academy, before a move to Leeds United in 2021 saw him playing Premier League football for the Whites.
Lewis has played beyond his years for much of his career, often appearing in Chelsea’s u23’s squad at just 18 years of age.He has also made seven appearances the England U17 side, adding two more caps at u18 level.
On the move, Lewis said:
“I’m really happy to be here. I spoke to Karl before I came and his enthusiasm was brilliant, I’ve come in today and the place is buzzing. I’m really excited to get started and hopefully have a successful season.”
Karl Robinson told us:
“We need young players who feel they have something to prove, and Lewis is just that. He’s one of those players that’s just going to get better and better, and he’s already got a good amount of experience under his belt, despite his young age.”
Lewis becomes the seventh new addition to the squad this transfer window.
Lewis will be number 14 for the U’s. Want to sponsor his home or away shirt? Then call 01865 337503/513 or email commercial@oufc.co.uk
