Oxford United make the short trip to Cheltenham Town on Saturday looking to pick up their first away win of the new season.
It’s the U’s’ first league visit to Whaddon Road for seven years and boss Karl Robinson knows it won’t be easy against another team promoted from League 2 last season.
“We’ve played Cambridge and Bolton away already and now Cheltenham, a third promoted team early in the season. That’s when you don’t want to be playing newly-promoted sides, when they have been winning last season, are getting big crowds and they have had that consistency.
“It’s a good ground for atmosphere as well and we will have a sold out away end so we want to win for them. We owe them a result, even if the performances away from home have been good so far. It will be nice going up against their Manager, who I know and like and have tremendous respect for. He has built a good team who have already had some good results.
“It’s still early in the season but we know we haven’t won away yet and we want to put that to bed. Right now, with crowds coming back, it is incredibly difficult for teams to win on the road. You need the motivation to perform and we will have that - training has been really good this week and the players are working all the time because we want to keep improving. The only way to do that, throughout everything we do as a club, it to work harder and harder
“In terms of the team Sam Winnall took a knock which hit a nerve but he was training today and we will see how that settles down, and Elliott Moore felt his back tighten up last weekend but we will wait and see on that too. Either way it’s an exciting game for us and we are looking forward to the challenge.”
