Oxford United’s Under 18s look to continue their excellent early season form when they travel to leaders Portsmouth tomorrow in the EFL Youth Alliance South West.
The young U’s were beaten in the League Cup at AFC Wimbledon last Saturday but will look to bounce back and continue their unbeaten start in the league, as Coach Darren Purse told us:
“It was disappointing to lose in the cup but so far in the league we have been doing really well. A few of the senior lads are out on loan or have had injuries and that means we are a very young group but it means opportunities: Fraser Barnsley has come into the side in goal while Eddie Brearey has been injured and done really well for us.
“Portsmouth are always strong and are also unbeaten so that’s the sort of challenge we want the boys to be facing.”
