Chairman's Notes For Blackpool Programme

The Oxford United Chairman, Sumrith 'Tiger' Thanakarnjanasuth, wrote the following notes for the programme against Blackpool this afternoon.

Good afternoon everyone wherever you are and I hope you are looking forward to today’s game against Blackpool as much as I am.

It is a good chance for us to build on an excellent performance against Doncaster on Tuesday night. Some of the football we played, especially in the first half, was amazing. I think we have played as well as that in other games but this time we were clinical and a three-goal lead at half time meant I could relax a little watching the game on iFollow; trust me, that’s very rare I can do that, I am usually so tense during the matches.,

The players didn’t relax though. You could see the defence concentrating and determined to keep a clean sheet and every player worked so hard. I thought it was a wonderful 90 minutes and it came at just the right time. We beat a team who have been above us all season and we did it as the season goes into its final quarter. This season has flown past; I think that is because every team has been playing three games every week since Christmas, but by the time we welcome Lincoln next Friday we will only have ten games left.

It has been an amazing effort from everyone at the club to stick together through a very difficult year, and to be in contention for promotion again this year has taken strength of character and a shared belief. I don’t know how things will turn out, but I do know that we will give it our best shot and our aim has always been promotion.

If that dream came true, it would mean that when we can welcome fans back you could be watching your team in the Championship. What a reunion that would be! We are working very hard behind the scenes and will have news of a membership scheme and season tickets very soon.

There is a long way to go and nobody will get carried away, but right now I think there is so much to look forward to. The cold hard winter is fading, spring is coming, and the team is playing well. We have some big players getting fit and I hope they will be available in the next week or two to add to the squad for some massive games. It’s funny; I am sure there are some tired legs at the moment but when you are winning games that gets forgotten and everyone wants to play every minute of every game! That competition for places is going to be very healthy.

So stay positive and support the team and the club. Like you, I will be watching on iFollow today and hoping above all else that we carry on where we left off on Tuesday night.

Tiger
