Oxford United welcome Lincoln City to the Kassam Stadium on Friday night looking to get back to winning ways in front of the SKY TV cameras.
“I actually don’t think having the TV cameras here will have any effect although I’m told the club’s record isn’t great on TV: Michael will know that too!" Karl Robinson told iFollow earlier today.
“But joking aside we know how hard it is going to be. Lincoln didn’t have a midweek game so they have had that extra bit of time to build towards the game whereas we played less than 48 hours ago and have had a tough run: we looked at it this morning and Cameron Brannagan, Ruffs, Elliott Moore and Rob Atkinson have had more matchdays than training days in recent months.
“We have a few niggles from the game on Tuesday and some of those who played at Northampton won’t play on Friday. We made changes for that game, some of them forced, and we have a protection process in place because players are playing so many games.
“But I looked in their eyes on Tuesday night and they were disappointed and frustrated and felt they had let people down by losing the game but that’s because they really do care and there was a determination there to make up for losing.
“There are still ten games to go, two blocks of five, and we have targets within that. We know we can still lose games and still achieve our target. We set a points target after ten games of the season which is still achievable now. We will talk about those targets at the end of the season and explain what they were and why.
“But this team has given me everything right through from July 2019 to now. Everyone has tried to abide by what the shirt stands for. Through everything we have faced, we have stood together, we have laughed and smiled and we have put our hearts and souls into it every day. So why would we change that over the next ten games?”
