Oxford United will look to bounce back immediately when they welcome Doncaster Rovers to the Kassam Stadium on Tuesday.
The U’s were beaten 2-0 at league leaders Hull City on Saturday but boss Karl Robinson is hoping his side can show a positive reaction against Rovers on Tuesday night.
“There wasn’t that much in it, but we lost” he told iFollow at the KCOM Stadium. “For 60 minutes I thought we were good and then in the last 30 we struggled. Having that many players out makes it difficult to compete against the big teams but we have to brush that to one side and move forward to Tuesday night now.
"We can chuck excuses out there but fans will see through that. I thought we lacked a bit of power the longer the game went on so from our point of view there is a lot of learning to do. Our squad depth is good but you can’t carry five or six injuries when you go to the league leaders away. I thought it was the first game where we missed them.
“I am proud of my players and what they gave me, what they stand for, but today was just one step too far the longer the game went on.
“If I was being critical it was that we looked to score the perfect goal. Hull didn’t, they just went straight through us. Sometimes a deflection goes in your favour when you do that but from my point of view we get back out there, roll our sleeves up and go again on Tuesday.”
