Fans Council Update

Following on from the first meeting of the Fans Council on 25th May, those present were asked to volunteer to form a working party to look at the formation of the council.

The working party will work closely with the FSA to establish a terms of reference and constitution and ultimately the mechanism to decide who will sit on the fans council.

Under advice from Ashley Browne from the Football Supporters Association, supporters with experience of the administration of committees, unions and councils had until Friday 4th June to submit expressions of interest to Head of Club Operations and SLO Andy Taylor.

The details of those who have expressed an interest have been passed on to Ashley who will now work with this small group of supporters on the formation of the council. It’s expected that the process will allow for the inaugural Fans Council to be in place for the start of the 2021/22 season.

“The Fans Council initiative is gathering pace now as we start to get the details finalised. I’m excited to see what comes out of the working party,” Andy told us. “I think the Fans Council shows real intent when it comes to improving fan engagement. I think we’ll see more clubs adopt this innovative approach and as ever Oxford United looks to lead from the front”.

Further details of the Fans Council will be released in due course.
