Oxford United’s pre-season started fully today with the players reporting for their first full day of training after testing yesterday.
The U’s will complete a double session today and then be back in on Saturday for another day of hard work before a deserved recovery day on Sunday.
Next week will see a full week of training at the Oxford Sports Park before the U’s have a change of scenery, as Karl Robinson explains.
“We will work hard for the next few days, get that core fitness, and then it’s important we have a chance to get away as a group. Team bonding, getting to know the new faces and seeing how the dynamics work in the squad is all part of pre-season so we will head for Bournemouth for a week before we come back to play Oxford City on the Friday in our first friendly.
“The initial plan was to go to Spain but clearly we can’t do that and we always had a Plan B where we could stay in this country and train away from any distractions.
“We will stay near Bournemouth and we will train at a great club down there in Wimborne who have invested heavily in the pitch and facilities and have been fantastic in helping us organise everything.
“We plan in great detail, we know we will be looked after. It will be great to all be together and totally focussed on both the fitness levels and our beliefs and aims for the season ahead.”
