Two more goals from Mide Shodipo helped Oxford United to an impressive 5-1 win away at Burton on Saturday.
The on-loan QPR winger made it seven for the season with two strikes at the Pirelli Stadium but was quick to praise the teamwork that went in to United’s best win on the road this season:
“It was a big team performance from us” he told iFollow. “We knew we had to grind out the result. Even though they are bottom of the league it’s still a tough place to come and we had to put the work in. We did that and we got the rewards.
“They had their new Manager there but we scored early and that helped. We got confidence and wanted to get more goals. Over all it was fantastic from all the lads.”
Mide set the tone with two good goals, the first being particularly eye-catching:
“The first one I just thought try and have a go and to try my luck. Fortunately it went in the top corner. I’ve got seven now and I’m looking to get more each game and just keep adding to my tally. The confidence has been growing game by game and we have put together a great run of results now. Long may it continue.”
United now have an enforced ten day break but Mide believes that will work in their favour:
“It’s been tough playing games so quickly together but I feel like this break will benefit us a lot. Get some rest, recover and also recover mentally and get ready for the next one.”
