Something’s got to give when Oxford United welcome Fleetwood Town to the Kassam Stadium on Saturday.
The U’s are on an amazing seven game winning streak but now face Fleetwood: a team they have never beaten in 12 previous attempts.
With just two draws among those dozen games and five defeats in five meetings at the Kassam Stadium boss Karl Robinson is well aware of the task facing his current side.
“I didn’t know about it until we were brilliant against them at home one time and then Conor McAleny scored a fantastic goal in the last minute and I thought it wasn’t fair. Someone told me the record after that! We can't change what happened in those games and we’ve had a couple of good results against them more recently including a 2-2 draw at their place so they don’t always beat us!
“But as you would imagine the team is flying at the moment and is full of confidence. We look fresh. Jamie Hanson was a bit stiff after Tuesday’s game and we are without Marcus McGuane and John Mousinho but we have been bringing players in to the side and we had a bit of a break so we have plenty of energy.
“Yes we have a busy run of games coming up but this right now is why we love football. Runs like this and the excitement it builds is why you want to be involved in the game. We are only half way through the season but we will be three quarters through in a blink of an eye because the season is so condensed.
"We are in a good place. People are talking about us as a club in the football world more than we have been for a long time. But we were lucky on Tuesday at Rochdale. We weren’t good. We were lucky.
“It was the first time I had to dig one or two players out at half time. But they responded and that game on Tuesday was brilliant for us because we could really see where we needed to improve, really straighten a few things out, and reset one or two things. We will be better on Saturday than we were on Tuesday…”
