Oxford United can confirm the results of the latest round of covid testing that was held at the Training Ground yesterday.
44 tests were conducted with all players, first team coaching staff and support staff reporting at set times to be tested in isolation. We are pleased to say that all of the players and coaching staff tested negative.
The one positive result was from a member of the support staff at the Training Ground and although that person has shown no symptoms they will now self-isolate according to government guidelines. The club will of course offer help and support over the next few days.
Karl Robinson told us:
“It’s a great testament to the protocols that we stick to so rigidly. Don’t forget we have been doing this since March and it has meant a lot of sacrifices for everyone, but we are always aware of the even bigger sacrifices that the rest of the country are making as well so we just get on with things and continue to do all we can to keep everyone safe at the club.
“We have done all the right things and that means, we hope, that the one person who tested positive hasn’t had contact time with the players and all the correct hygiene rules and social distancing were in place so we are confident that it’s just the one case who will now be at home as a precaution.
“Apart from the testing the players have had a couple of days off to recharge their batteries but we will be back at full strength and ready to go when we face Cambridge next Tuesday.”
