Oxford United head for Stadium MK on Saturday looking to bounce back from a narrow defeat at home to Portsmouth on Tuesday night that dented their push for the play-off places.
“I’m proud of the players for the way they have approached everything this season” Karl Robinson told iFollow today. “We know each other inside out as a group and we know what is required to be part of this team and this football club. We have maybe not found the consistency over the last two or three games that we had before and people may question that but the players have given everything that they have and that’s all you can ask.
“There was very little in the game on Tuesday and we maybe deserved a draw but this game isn’t fair sometimes.
“But we gave it our all. You look at Cameron Brannagan, Sam Winnall and Mark Sykes who hadn’t played many games, Sam Long coming back into the team, Brandon Barker and Elliot Lee trying to fit in at a new club. They are all very good players and we have proper competition for places. We know when we get settled again we can get the same rhythm back that we had during our winning run.
“It’s not going to be easy on Saturday because MK are a very good footballing side, managed by one of the nicest people you will meet in the game. People will always want to ask me about going back there, that’s natural after ten years at a club, and I’m certainly looking forward to it.
“But I’m looking forward to it because we go there as Oxford United and we know that we are going to go there and give it a real good go. There is a togetherness about this group and now, as we go in to the last third of the season things start to get that bit sharper for everyone involved.”
