Oxford United’s Sky Bet League 1 game at home to Wigan Athletic on Saturday has been postponed by 24 hours and will now be played on Sunday 14th February, kick off at 3pm
The freezing conditions this week have left the pitch at the Kassam Stadium unplayable, with a pitch inspection this morning leading to the postponement. However with temperatures rising and the forecast much better for the weekend the two clubs have agreed to play the game 24 hours later.
Karl Robinson told us
“We got a referee in and it was clear to all of us that right now the pitch is not playable, despite covers being on this week, and it won’t thaw in time for Saturday but we are confident that by Sunday afternoon we can get the game on. We have said all along this season that we respect the values and integrity of the league and the competition and will always try to play matches whatever the circumstances.
“It’s not ideal, we have a semi-final game on Tuesday against Tranmere, but the new date is the best option with such a congested second half of the season so we will adjust our preparations and we will be ready for Sunday.”
iFollow passes for Saturday will still be valid on Sunday.
