Oxford United left-back Josh Ruffels is in line for another personal milestone tomorrow evening when the U’s welcome Portsmouth in Sky Bet League 1.
The Oxford born player, still only 27, stands by to make his 300th appearance for the U’s since joining from Coventry City in 2013.
“It’s a nice little landmark” he told us today. “I don’t take too much notice but maybe when I sit down after I stop playing I can look back and feel proud to have played that many games for the club, and I hope there are a few more to add to the total as well.
“There are some pretty big names with more games to their name than me and I’m humbled to be even close to them. It certainly never even entered my head when I came here aged 19 but I have loved every minute. The fans have been amazing and I can't wait to be playing games in front of them again.”
Boss Karl Robinson said:
“He is a pleasure to work with. He has learned that new position, changed as the club has changed around him and is a fantastic person as well as a fantastic footballer. He should be proud of the landmark and I hope he continues to play with the same passion and pride for his local club for many years to come.”
