Oxford United Women kept their impressive league form going with a 3-0 win at Keynsham Town this afternoon.
Goals from top scorer Beth Lumsden, Riva Casley and skipper Lauren Haynes saw the U’s move up to second in the table and set up next weekend’s game perfectly when they welcome unbeaten leaders Ipswich Town to Court Place Farm.
The U’s were 1-0 up at half time when some good link up play on the left and a nine pass move ended with Rachel Panting crossing for Lumsden to finish from her cut back pass.
The second goal came from a driven corner from Haynes which central defender Casley headed back across the keeper to make it 2-0
Six minutes later Haynes made it 3-0 when she let fly from the edge of the area to power the ball into the far corner.
Manager Liam Gilbert was delighted by his side’s performance
“The girls played some really good football and were very patient when they needed to be“ he said. “From my point of view it was good to see all of the subs make an impact because when we make the changes it is so important that the players come on and keep driving us forward.
“It was also good to have Aleasha Lunn come on and become the fourth development player to step up this season, that is very much the ethos throughout the club to try and develop young players and give them a chance to show what they can do at senior level
“We took our goals well and it’s another clean sheet, three more goals and it sets us up perfectly for next weekend.”
