Oxford United look to continue their excellent form as they travel to Doncaster Rovers on Tuesday night.
“I saw something last week that said we had the best home record in 2021 and then this morning I saw something saying we are in the top four scorers for the year as well” boss Karl Robinson told iFollow.
“Those are good stats to have and we have a pretty clear identity in the way we play” he said. “I think some people were pleased with a point at Sunderland on Saturday but I wasn’t. I was frustrated because we want to win every game, no matter who we are playing. I think we are making tremendous progress in everything we do but we aren’t here to make up the numbers, we have shown for two or three seasons now that we can compete at places like Sunderland and credit to the players and the fans. We have been given time to build that together and now we are enjoying the benefits of it."
"That was a tough game on Saturday and we will see whether we need to freshen things up and change things on Tuesday night, but we are in a really good place and performing really well. In the last seven or eight games we have played against good teams and the last defeat I remember in the league was against Plymouth where I still don’t know how we didn’t win that one.
“Because we are getting good results we have a flexibility in the decisions I can make and I know what I need to see from my players on Tuesday. Forgive my impatience but I don’t want this club to be in League 1 too long and if we are to achieve that then I don’t want to see what I saw from my team in the second half on Saturday. We can play a lot better than that, and hopefully we show that at Doncaster.”
