We’ve got two very special guests tomorrow as the U’s welcome Wigan Athletic to the Kassam Stadium.
Our Guest of Honour is one of the greatest strikers the club has ever had. Hughy Curran was a huge favourite for the London Road during both spells at the club and the Scottish international will be returning to talk to guests in the restaurant and help with the half time Polythene UK Fifty/50 draw. We are sure you will make him feel at home.
And before that we have a young man who we know you will give a warm welcome to. Zach Lewis, son of club legend Micky, is the Manager’s guest and will walk out to wave to the crowd and thank you for the fantastic way you supported Micky’s Memorial Game, ‘One For The Road’ earlier this season.
Karl told us
“Zach and James Henry are the last two to score hat-tricks here! But that whole day for Micky really showed me what this club is all about and the community spirit that we have here. We are very united all the way through the club but anyone who gives their all for Oxford is part of the family forever.
“Micky did that and so his family and his son will always be part of this club. He was a warrior for the team and then what he did as a person for this club went beyond that. He had a massive impact on football in this county.
"I always come out and clap the fans before kick off to thank them for coming and I just thought it would be nice for the young man to come out with me and clap the fans who worshipped his father. I’m sure that will mean the world to his family and I hope everyone makes him aware how much they loved Micky.”
