Oxford United’s Under 21s will get their first competitive outing of the season when they take on Huddersfield Town in the Premier League Cup this evening.
The U’s take on the Terriers at Thame United’s ASM Stadium on Wednesday evening (7pm) in the qualifying stage of the competition with the winners going through to the group stages where they will play Birmingham City, Newcastle United and Watford.
United’s youngsters will relish the opportunity with Kie Plumley, Yoav Sade, Michael Elechi, Tyler Goodrham, Leon Chambers-Parillon and Slavi Spasov all eligible and a number of highly promising scholars also stepping up. Three over-age players can also play in the competition.
Academy Manager Dan Harris told us
“It’s a great competition for the lads: proper competitive cup football against a really strong Huddersfield side. We have home advantage and it would be good to see fans come along, support the lads and hopefully enjoy what should be a good night of football.”
There is always a friendly welcome at Thame and we will have full coverage of the game on our social channels plus a report and gallery right here at the final whistle.
